Poverty statistics for Boone County

The U.S Census Bureau currently reports that more then 800 children in Boone County are living below the poverty line, including 285 families in the Lebanon Community School System.  Lebanon Community Schools estimate that 30% of the children eligible for Free and Reduced lunches are experiencing homelessness (conservatively estimated at 55 children).  Also, Stats Indiana reports a 100% increase in the last decade of the number of families eligible for food stamps.

Boone County population (53,526), persons under the age of 18, 25.8%. 1,907 are on the "Free and Reduced lunch program."

In 2008, we helped 10,360 individuals and 2,607 families – 4,940 were children.

In 2007, we helped 11,283 individuals and 3,211 families – 5,330 were children.

In 2006, we helped 9,808 individuals and 3,145 families – 4,000 were children.
