Food needs at the Caring Center have increased 25% in the last year, and more than 2500 children in Boone County are on the “free and reduced” lunch program at our schools. Feeding Our Future was created to address exactly these community issues with the goal that no child goes hungry in our area.
In the last year, money from Feeding our Future has provided:
| • | Kids at the Table – 50 children on free and reduced lunch participated in a pilot program | |
| • | Partnership between Lebanon Boys and Girls Club, Stokes Elementary School and the Caring Center | |
| • | At risk kids receive literacy coaching and homework assistance, participate in daily activities and are fed a hot meal, after school Monday through Friday | |
| • | Boone County Food Provider Partners – Led by United Way, this county wide coordinating group was organized and meets at least 2 times a year and a task force focused on Thorntown needs was also established. | |
| • | Caring Center support group - 20 Boone County families who struggle with providing enough food for their families each month receive mentoring | |
How can you help? Recruit 3 other couples to join you to fill a table of eight at the dinner. Tickets to the dinner are $35 per person and $280 for a table of eight.
