Friends of the Caring Center,
As I reflect on this past year, several things come to my mind. First of all, I am so proud of how hard my board of directors has worked to get us where we are today. From the endless hours spent on the Strategic Plan to physically moving us to our new facility.
Giving comes in several different ways, from writing a check to spending several hours a week on the day to day operations of the Caring Center. One of my fondest memories of giving is the following experience: Last winter a client who was out of work because of the cold weather came to the Caring Center for food for his family. He noticed water standing on the floor. As he investigated, he discovered that ice melting from the roof was draining between the inner and outer walls. He went home to get his caulking gun and caulk, knocked the ice off the roof on that side of the building, and solved our problem. I had never experienced anything like this before. I would have had to call a professional to do the job if this man had not taken care of it for us. This young man saw some way he could repay the generosity of others and responded. People working together to make a better world is my philosophy, and it starts with me and you. I do believe this man clearly understands that, and so do you!
In conclusion, a special thanks to all the volunteers of the Caring Center!
Without you we would not be as effective as we are.
Sincerely,
Theresa Hanners, Executive Director
